Check In Together
Emergency safety check-ins and alerts for people living alone
Check In Together is an emergency check-in service that notifies designated emergency contacts via SMS during urgent situations. Users complete regular safety check-ins, and missed check-ins trigger automatic alerts to their chosen emergency contacts.
📱 Who Sends Messages
Messages are sent by Tynan Seltzer operating Check In Together, a personal safety monitoring service based in the United States.
✉️ Non-Marketing Service
No promotional messages are sent. Emergency contacts only receive:
- Initial opt-in consent requests (one-time)
- Emergency alerts when a user misses check-ins
- No advertisements, promotions, or marketing materials
How It Works
Check In Together requires explicit consent before sending any emergency alerts.
User Adds Emergency Contact
A Check In Together user (the person living alone) adds an emergency contact's phone number in the app. The contact is typically a family member, friend, or neighbor.
Opt-In Request Sent
The emergency contact receives a one-time SMS asking them to opt in. This message clearly explains what they're consenting to and how to respond.
Contact Must Reply YES
The emergency contact must explicitly reply with "YES" to opt in. No alerts will be sent until consent is confirmed. We store this consent record with timestamp, phone number, and consent text.
Emergency Alerts (Rare)
Only after consent, the contact may receive emergency alerts if the user misses consecutive check-ins.
📊 Message Frequency
Extremely Rare - Emergency contacts only receive messages during actual emergencies when a user misses consecutive check-ins. In normal operation, contacts may receive zero messages per month. This is not a frequent notification service.
Consent & Opt-In Process
This is the official consent documentation page for Twilio toll-free verification.
